Gifts & Offerings

Giving Offerings for the Lord’s Work

One aspect of our lives as God’s people is providing financial offerings to support the work of sharing the gospel in our church and school, as well as in our shared ministry as a high school conference and a synodical church body with our mission program. In God’s word we find the principles of “firstfruit” and “special gift” giving. Firstfruit offerings are the gifts we give “off the top” of our income as an expression of gratitude to our Lord. We encourage people to give a percentage of their income as a firstfruit gift in proportion to how they have been blessed. We will want to be as generous as our circumstances allow us to be. Special gifts are gifts “over and above” our regular firstfruit offerings for those who are able to also contribute in this way. Typically, special gifts are for building projects or area ministries not covered by regular budgets, or they may be gifts given on special occasions, such as for funeral memorials or anniversary thank offerings. While everyone who receives income is a firstfruit giver, that is not necessarily the case when it comes to special gifts. We ask that people pray and consider what, if anything, they may be able to do in connection with special gift opportunities.

Online Giving

Christ the Lord has established the option for online offerings. Contributions can be debited automatically from your checking or savings account (or processed using your credit or debit card). Giving online is easy and allows you to set up automatic recurring contributions and view your complete online giving history from anywhere you have access to the Internet. Making use of online giving allows you to write fewer checks throughout the year. In addition, when travel, illness or other circumstances prevent you from attending services, this program will allow your weekly offerings to continue on an uninterrupted basis.

Faith Family Future

Faith Family Future is the name of our congregation’s ongoing capital fund campaign. It is an example of “special gift” giving, as referenced above. Gifts to Faith Family Future allow us to pay for our mortgage outside of our budget. They also have allowed us to pay for almost all of our capital improvements outside the regular budget since 2002. As a result, Faith Family Future has allowed us the blessing of being able to expand our ministry in the word for our church and school through using our regular firstfruit offerings for ongoing gospel ministry work. The Faith Family Future campaign has been repeated every three years since 2002.

Please note that you may also use online giving for your Capital Campaign (Faith Family Future) donations. Please note that you can also use online giving for your Capital Campaign (Faith Family Future) donations.

Endowment Fund

Contributions to the Endowment Fund allow the earnings of a gift to be used for ministry purposes while the principal of the gift remains intact for a period of years. Endowment Fund gifts provide an excellent way to fund ministry programs and projects that might not be able to be funded through the annual budget. While such gifts may be given at any time during a person’s life, they are often part of estate planning as designations in wills and trusts.
