Last Call for Holiday Scrip
We will be placing our last Scrip order of 2018 on Monday, December 17. Orders placed on this date will be available in plenty of time for Christmas gift giving. Paper orders with payment should be placed in the payment box on the west wall of the office lobby by 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning or orders can be placed online at shop.shopwithscrip.com or you can order in person by stopping by the reception desk today between services. We carry a limited number of gift cards in inventory available for immediate purchase: Panera ($10), Starbucks ($10), Pick n’ Save ($25, $50), Papa Murphy’s ($10), Subway ($10), Kwik Trip ($50), and Woodman’s ($50, $100). Scrip gift cards are just like the gift cards you would purchase at any store. By purchasing gift cards through our Scrip program, a portion of your purchase is returned to Christ the Lord to benefit our congregation’s youth programs. For more information about what’s available or if you need help placing an order, check out the Scrip page on the church website (www.christthelordbrookfield.org/scrip) or contact our coordinator, Arianne Kannenberg, at firstname.lastname@example.org or stop by the reception desk on Sunday morning between services. Thank you in advance for your support of our program!
A Light in the Darkness – Christmas 2018
As the day of Christmas draws closer, many of us are likely finalizing plans to spend time with family and friends. Consider while you finalize those plans the opportunity you still have to invite a guest to join you at one of our Christmas services this year. Give a call to that person you are thinking of inviting, meet with them face-to-face, it only takes a few minutes to have the conversation, but the impact could be everlasting. May God bless all of our efforts to invite a guest this Christmas that many may come and hear of their Savior’s birth!
Faith, Family, Future Update
As of earlier this week we have received over 150 Promise Cards with total pledges to the Faith-Family-Future capital campaign of $1.85 million. A number of people have indicated that they have yet to submit their cards/pledges, so we anticipate this figure to increase. If you still have not turned in a card, we ask you to do so soon. A building committee has been formed and will start its work in January or February, with direction to work with our architect to refocus our expansion plans within the budget God has given to us.
New Sunday Bible Class Topic – A Christmas without Jesus?
Can you imagine celebrating Christmas without Jesus? Less than seventy-five years after the first Christmas, there were new Christians who were weakening in their faith and were being tempted to go back to the way it was “before Christ.” That would mean the next Christmas would be a Christmas without Jesus for them. Excerpts from the Letter to the Hebrews will help us see how God helped them see Christmas for what it really is – and how he will help us make this Christmas one that is truly spent with Jesus. Join us for this four-session course, beginning December 2.
Mark your calendars! Our annual Packers Potluck is December 2, 2018. The party starts at 11:45am in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring a dish to pass. We’ll have outlets available if you’ll be bringing a crock-pot. We’re also looking for a couple volunteers to help set up for the event around 11am—if you can help in this way, please contact the church office.
