The history of the Christian Church has shown that certain rules and regulations are necessary to properly attain the purpose and fulfill the obligations of church congregations. This, paired with 1 Corinthians 14:40, which states that all things in the Church should be done “in a fitting and orderly way,” is why Christ the Lord Lutheran Church has adopted this constitution and bylaws.
In general, the constitution lays out the following: Articles of Faith (what we believe), our purpose and objective, affiliations, church membership, the congregation’s powers and rights, various aspects of called workers and officers of the church, and other facets of the church.
The bylaws then go on to provide further details about the operation of the congregation relating to meetings, voting, operation of the church council and boards, and membership policies.
